The food was awful! I went in around 9 and ordered Shrimp Lo Mein, No Veggies and Crab Ragoon. The Lo mein was burnt. I could smell it, so of course the taste was awful. The Ragoon wasn’t done. Maybe the Chef was tryna go home or something but I threw everything in the trash after one bite. Never again!
clean. great Cantonese style food. very nice owner
Ummmmm... I’m not sure what happened but X.O. either fired the cook or switched management. I’ve been coming here for years off and on but never has my food tasted this bad! Where do I start? The roast duck was old, I ordered spicy shrimp with the head on and it wasn’t spicy at all. The pork soup was just the bbq pork thrown in with some broth & noodles🙁 I also ordered an app of tempura shrimp and they just brought out fried shrimp no tempura dipping sauce! Horrible experience and may never return😡
Great food and a large menu to select from. Very nice place
Good food and service
Sunday afternoon lunch - we were thinking Chinese and it couldn't have been better! Great service, great food and a reasonable bill. We'll be back!
Me personally I am not a fan of this style of food. It is one of the most authentic tasting Cantonese styled food that I have had.
There are so many tasty things to try here whether it's lobster or certain specialty fish dishes or just your regular Chinese food this place is really an amazing place, we took some very special guests that came all the way from Western Ukraine to entertain them with a special dinner and they cannot wait to come back and visit again to get the XO taste. This place is definitely in the Local Top 20.
This restaurant seems to change owners every so often. I think it may be due to location tucked to the side of the shopping center. Most times I go there during the week for carryout it has few sit down customers but its better on the weekends. Nonetheless the food is very good and so are the prices.
Best Cantonese Food in this area: Always my favorite place for Cantonese food. BBQ pork and duck are amazing. Best wonton noodle in Virginia. Must try is the Intestine with Sour Cabbage. Forgot to take the picture, I will take one next time.
Pro: the duck was adequate. The tea and ice water were delicious!Cons: noodles were gelatinous and oily, and the sesame chicken was rubbery, chewy, stringy and completely incredible. The broccoli served with the sesame chicken was served cold and uncooked.Even the fortune cookies tasted bad.
This place is genuinely awful, and should be avoided at all costs. I ordered lunch delivery with Grubhub, my choice being the lunch special called Ginger Scallion Chicken on Rice which sounded delicious. I get the food, and it's about 2 cups of rice, two pieces of wilted lettuce, and a huge piece of BONED chicken cut in sections. It was 70% bones, 20% skin/fat, and 10% (dark) chicken. It was literally not edible. Thank God I had also ordered a small hot and sour soup that they didn't manage to mess up, so I had that.Adding insult to injury, I contacted GrubHub about the horrible food, and when GH contacted the merchant they refused even a partial refund. Absolute CROOKS! And lousy cooks. Avoid, avoid, AVOID!!
Loved the food, great atmosphere, will absolutely go again!
A local favorite for great Cantonese dishes. Lots of authentic dishes. Enjoy !
Decent Chinese/Cantonese food. Good service, comfortable environment.
Five stars. More than just a Chinese food spot. Vibe is pretty traditional, but food is delicious, with some outstanding notables. For example, the best crab ragoon, ever. Literally best I’ve ever had. The server brought it with some sweet sauce, and mustard, on the side, and though I was surprised, trust me, and trust them, they know what they’re doing. That with some hot and sour soup makes an awesome combination, I’m salivating just thinking about it. Can’t wait to have it again. We also had the seafood fried rice which was exceptional, and the duck, which was excellent.Service was spot on, very professional. Management came to check on us and we had nothing but nice things to say. The fact that the game was on the tv in the back didn’t hurt either...
This is the real it - an up-to-date, trendy, delicious date destination with diners and staff who want to be there. When you crave lobster in new and exotic ways, go here. Get crowded late Fri-Sat nights. Worth a drive from far away.
Love XO taste, have been here several times. They have an extensive Chinese/Vietnamese menu with lots of traditional dishes. Their duck and chicken are among my favorite for a long way around. Parking is free and usually no problem. This is a popular place, some days you might need to wait. Recommended!
I had a fantastic time at this restaurant. We liked the great vibes and the menu. The waiters were very personal. I am content we ultimately managed to visit this place.
i'm filipino and i've been looking for a chinese food that is very close to a chinese food that they're serving in philippines and so far this is the one that is close to the filipino chinese food
Received no contact delivery from X O Taste July2020 and was impressed by the food and thoughtful packaging. The food was light, not greasy and used fresh ingredients. The quality far exceeds closer restaurants to us that offer delivery. We'll be ordering from X O Taste again.
One of my favorite places to order from and the service I get from here is always a pleasure. Would recommend anyone to eat here, you won't be disappointed at all.
Horrible and DISRESPECTFUL service. I went to this place to pick up food for delivery. I showed the order. The elderly man just nodded a head without saying a word and started cutting meat. I assumed he was working on the order... 5 minutes later I decided to double check with him and read him the order. He said "OK" and disappeared in the kitchen for 15 minutes. I approached the manager and told him "if you don't fill this order in 5 minutes, I will cancel it". The manager raised his voice "go ahead an cancel. somebody else will come pick the order". I will never go to that place.
XO Taste is clearly one of our favorite restaurants. We eat out alot...and we have traveled the world...and XO Taste stands out, above and beyond. The food, the service, and welcoming atmosphere make for 5+ Stars all around!
Went here for Christmas dinner with a party of three.. Bad mistake. Before getting seated was told by I believe the manager that it would take about 50 minutes to have our food ready. We agreed to wait considering it was a Chinese restaurant on Christmas night and they are like the only restaurants open. Waited patiently for an hour, no appetizers only got served our drinks. The waiter couldn't really give us an update on our food or how much longer it would take for our food to come out. We decided not to wait any longer and left. First time ever just leaving a restaurant this way. Probably decent Chinese food but not gonna wait 90 minutes or maybe even longer for it.
Best place for Cantonese food. Roast duck. Crispy pork recommended.
I wish I could write a good review. 1/2 of my order was wrong, and they could only deduct it. I ordered 2 meals and this was my dinner for 4 nights. Very frustrated.
I was particularly happy about their sweet pea leaves sauted in garlic 😊
Good Cantonese food, served by friendly efficient waitstaff. From the squid and pig skin congee to the beef chow fun w xo sauce to the wonton soups to anything with the duck to shrimp dumpling soup, all were good dishes. Well worth a visit.
Food wasn't good at all, no salt no seasoning, got a very bad stomachache on that night which was Saturday and it continued till next day. I strongly suggest that they need to change those cooks, they are elderly gentleman no hygiene at all. People!!!!!!! Dont go there!!!!...
Great Chinese BBQ, recommended, will come back.Grew up in HK, loved Chinese food and having lived in the Bay Area, I was disappointed to not see many Chinese restaurants at Northen Virginia. This place was really good. Surprised that the roasted pork had really crispy skin. The BBQ pork was good too but wished it were fattier personally. We ordered another dish the fillet fish and veggies. That was alright. We came during lunch so these were all lunch specials so the price was very reasonable. Both items came with soup.Customer service was great. One of the waiter saw that my tea was very dense, and he swapped it out with a fresh pot of tea. That was great that he noticed. I would come back to try the dinner menu. Excited about this HK style restaurant!Learned that this spot has been around for 10+ years.
I don't know what to think of their food, the menu is awfully broad from Lobster to lamb to roast Pig. The service is surprisingly Virginia smart like they know who to expect to come in the door.
Delicious Cantonese food and good service. We ordered the fried spicy squid, chicken pan fried noodles, BBQ roast pork and the sizzling short ribs in black pepper sauce. I also ordered the HK wonton noodle soup which totally satisfied my craving. It took a little while for us to receive our menus but once seated and they were given to us it only took a matter of minutes to get our food. Every dish was absolutely delicious. Good amounts of fat on the BBQ roast pork and spare ribs. This place is kid-friendly with highchairs available. There are men and women restrooms but no changing tables in either one.Highly recommend!
This place is really really good! I was little bit skeptical of coming here on Xmas day, but let me tell you - the food was delicious. Especially duck. I tried duck in other places and it wasn’t that good. But XO exceed my expectations on duck :). Appetizers tested good too. Greens didn’t disappoint. One of the best Asian food restaurant in area. They have variety of sea food and live lobsters (market prices).Menu has Vietnamese and Chinese dishes.
Just had This place for the first time tonite. I was skeptical because the prices were actually good, so I thought that had to mean low quality food. To my surprise the food was excellent. We got the karmon jeeb dumplings and the green curry chicken dinner. Both were very tasty, I actually wanted more when I was done. I will deff be ordering from here again. Great job guys.
We went to get supplies for our salon so we stop we’re a little hungry so we stop here for lunch. We order a few items of the menu. They were all very delicious. It was so good that we order an extra to bring home for our kids. We definitely recommend this place to all our friends and family.
A tad above average for your authentic Cantonese Chinese food. Their BBQ meats (hanged meats from the display) were pretty good actually! Tried their roast pig and roast pork. The roast pig skin was crispy and the roast pork had good amounts of fat to balance out the overall taste. Their crab meat, dried scallop fried right was average. There are better places out there. Price is reasonable and service was attentive. Would come back again.
Had several dishes. I didn't care for their flavor as much as some other Chinese restaurants I have been to.
Roasted pig (siu yok) and bbq pork (char siu) were disappointing. It’s like microwaved. Roasted duck was awesome because it is roasted that day. Fried rice is average. Not coming back.
Food is decent. I been here a total of 3 times and they are pretty consistent. The eggplant with the paste was not good. The mapo tofu was not that great. But the other dishes was decent and well prices. Oh they need to remodel the men stall's height to actually cover something.
It was our first time visiting this establishment. Our friends who organized the dinner had been here before and they liked it.We had peking duck, fried lobster, sauteed watercress, pepper steak, beef chow fun.Peking duck was not as flavorful as I hoped it would be and some pieces were not crispy.Fried lobster was just lightly batter with salt and pepper. A little greasy, quite ordinary. Sauteed watercress was soaked in a bath of oil. The garlic did not seem to go through.Peppered steak was tender and peppery. Best dish overall but still oily.Beef chow fun had good potion of beef. Good noodles.EVERYTHING was salty. I ate only fried lobster with rice while drinking about 2 large pots of tea by myself. The restaurant is clean and our waitress was very nice and efficient. We think the food would be okay if you request for much less salt added and avoid frying dishes.
Delicious silky pork and duck egg congee. And also beside it is the roast duck/chicken combo :) I will definitely come again. The food reminds me of the food in the cantonese restaurants in nyc except the ambience here is so much nicer!
Delicious food and wonderful service. Wanted tea and was offered three different kinds when asked. Arrived for dinner and prices of entrees ranged from $8-$20s. The " ' ' Over Rice" section of the menu is recommended for an affordable experience that doesn't sacrifice quality. Would definitely like to bring my family here. =)
Tonight was our first experience with this restaurant and so far, a definite thumbs up! We ordered two beef fried rice (carry out of course) and the portions were quite generous. The food...really good. We are impressed and will visit again.
Good food
Tons of food for the price, and its all high quality food.
Great BBQ and roasted meats Cantonese style. I love their shrimp dumpling noodle soup. The wrappers are thin and light and filled with shrimp...no fillers. I see many order the lunch special...if only the know what they are missing out...
Amazig place for authentic Cantonese Chinese food. The food was amazing. We absolutely loved our visit here. I would recommend everyone come here and have a wonderful meal. The staff/owner are all very friendly.
Generous portions and Vegan friendly fare at XO. Nice atmosphere. Friendly service. Solid four stars for this eatery. Will be back again soon.
